As one of the most famous songwriting duos in history, John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote and published approximately 180 songs together between 1962 and 1969. Taking early cues from Elvis Presley, The Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly, Lennon and McCartney began writing songs in their teens and jointly wrote the majority of the Beatles’ catalog. Learn about Lennon and McCartney’s style of writing, how their different personalities combined to give their songs an interesting juxtaposition and how their work has affected today’s songwriting.
