Teachers will also explore strategies to support literacy development in collaboration with MDE Strong Readers Strong Leaders, including modeling read-alouds at all ages, predictive reading from titles, covers, and images, inviting engagement through personal connections, and focusing on characters, plots, and main ideas or themes.

Following this, participants will learn about talking book services and options with a focus on America’s 250, including an overview of the National Library Service for the Blind & Print Disabled at the Library of Congress (That All May Read), the Talking Books Service with players and cartridges, the BARD Braille Assisted Reading Device, and e-Reader Braille cartridges.
